Shot in London by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the Spring/Summer 2010 Miu Miu Campaign exudes the essence of youth and irreverence evoked by the collection itself. With her doll-like features and waist-length ironed blonde hair, Lindsey Wixson's face is the charming - and charmed - embodiment of a free-spirit on the cusp of womanhood, speaking of both power and vulnerability as well, of course, as the playfulness that is integral to the Miu Miu name.
Looks similarly explore the fine line between the childlike and the womanly. Lean, even body-conscious, tailoring is graphically printed with little dogs, cats, swallows, flowers and naked bodies. Sheer, tulle pieces, embellished with crystal embroideries, are finished with contrasting smocked cotton pique collars and sleeves. Accessories accentuate a proudly capricious nature. In particular, extreme, platformed-soled footwear comes printed with more florals and juvenile wildlife.
Doe-eyed and ultra-slender of limb, there is, in fact, more than a touch of the fawn to this Miu Miu poster girl who ultimately represents both sweetness and sensuality and the highly complex notion of modern innocence in a world that is anything but.
