For the Spring/Summer 2018 Miu Miu show, AMO manipulates the formality of the Palais d'Iéna.
A horizontal installation obstructs the space, both dominating the environment and acting as an infrastructure, breaking the severe linearity of Perret's Salle Hypostyle. An irregular accumulation of bricks generates a system of fragmented levels from which the guests have varying degrees of proximity to the fashion on display. A continuous row of plastic chairs cluster around the central structure, producing a catwalk balanced between the intimate and the spectacular.
The atmosphere of the show relies on the humble yet unexpected clash of the materials. The exaggerated accumulation magnifies their extraneous presence in the rigor of the Palais. The introduction of natural light within the space is controlled and filtered by the use of plastic screens, which both project a spectrum of colour in the room and mediates between the scale of the intervention and the monumentality of its setting.
